On the evening of September 17th 1957 Milton Link sat excited because his Development company just closed on the first 300 of the now 1,300 acres called The Moorings. The price? $1.5 million! Less than one home on the water these days.
In Mid February 1958. With all signals go, Link held a breakfast with all the real-estate agents and local officials. The guest of honor was Mrs. E.W. Crayton. Then Mr. Link announced that the main thoroughfare was to be named Crayton Road. Lots began selling for $4500 a piece.
The Moorings survived economic slumps, Hurricanes, and time to become one of the most desirable areas in the world to live. The Property owners association was founded in 1962 with 30 members.
